IMPORTANT TRI FOX UPDATES AND EVENTS...LOTS TO DO!!
Hi Tri Foxes,
....Our January meeting is only 2 weeks away! The plan is to meet at Homestead Meadows which is not far past the Appleton airport. Families and friends are invited. We are going to start with a little exercise at 10am...you can XC ski, snowshoe, or run (bring your equipment). We will have cocoa and treats. At noon, we will go inside for an excellent presentation by our own local experts, Jim and Janine Boldra. They will dazzle you with their 25 years of tri experiences....LESSONS LEARNED by Jim and Janine Boldra! Don't miss this! Plus, one of the XTERRA wetsuits we forgot to award during the December meeting will be awarded at this meeting. Check out the Homestead Meadows website for directions: http://www.homesteadmeadows
....WHAT IS FIND A FOX...THANKS TO KATY SIROVATKA FOR TAKING THE LEAD ON THIS AND THANKS TO JAMES BLASKOWSKI FOR DREAMING UP THE IDEA!!
How many of us became TRIATHLETES because of the encouragement of one special person? Are you ready to BE that person for one of our TRI 101 participants? All sorts of people attend TRI 101 to get the most basic information and encouragement to complete their first triathlon. But what happens after the flurry of inspiration from the evening classroom session? What if they have more questions or just need a little encouragement? The new FIND A FOX mentor program is designed to fill the gap.
All YOU need is a little experience (have you finished your first triathlon?) and a heart to help newbies discover the sport. You (the FOX) will be matched with one or two TRI 101 participants looking for a mentor (the KITS—get it?). The time commitment is minimal--all you need to do is make yourself available to your Kit via email about once a week from late February (after TRI 101) until High Cliff. Your Kit may have specific questions, or he or she may not even know what to ask. To help get the discussion flowing, the Foxes and Kits will receive periodic email blasts (about twice a month) with a little information about some triathlon topic and a couple starter questions to discuss with your Kit. On the other weeks, the Foxes will receive a reminder to dash a note off to their Kit—“Hey, how’s it going?”—just to keep the lines of communication open. You don’t need to do much, but that small personal connection can make a world of difference for a newbie.
Ready to help a newbie become a TRIATHLETE? To sign up to be a FIND A FOX mentor, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with four key pieces of information:
When the Kits sign up for FIND A FOX after TRI 101, we’ll ask what they’re looking for to help match them with Foxes.
Contact Katy Sirovatka (email@example.com) with any questions. ROCK FOXES!
