Team Hailey 5K: Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 8:30 a.m. Begins at Germania Hall.

2 yr. old Hailey Meltz, of Appleton WI., is diagnosed with a pediatric astrocytoma (PLGA) brain tumor. All proceeds from this event go to research for this type of childhood cancer. Please consider this fundraiser, and for more info. Contact Peg Meltz at: pmeltz@new.rr.com.

Mike who is one of the FCTC original members informed the club about another important event coming up on Friday April 18th. Lots of us enjoy running, biking, training, racing at High Cliff State Park. We are very fortunate to have this local, beautiful park that sponsors and supports our signature event. A group of “Friends of High Cliff” purchased a chunk of land that was for sale by the park, to preserve it as part of the park. They are holding a fund raiser to assist in paying off this land.

FCTC members, here is our chance to give a little back to the park and join in on a banquet, raffle, silent auction:

Friday, April 18th. Watch our website for a link on this.

FOX’S FIRECRACKER 5K Planning is underway but we need many foxes to make this a success. A group met today from 2-4 for a good start.

Here is what we have so far:

Race will be held 7/4, 8:00a.m. At Kaukauna Public Library. Police assistance is FREE! (Thanks Alan for your hand in this!) Possible kids race to follow the 5K. We have 2 sponsors so far. Next planning meeting will be Sunday 3/30 at Aurora in Kaukauna. At 6:00 p.m. Brochures need to be made up and distributed, along with many other areas to make our 1st 5K, and fund raiser for our club a success. Thank You Rich Shymanski for heading this up and for all others involved in this.

Trinity Triathlon: June 7th. See link on our website.

Amy Henning informed us our club joined the USAT organization. We have applied for a grant from them for our 5K. See USATRIATHLON.ORG. Discounts on wetsuits, gels, nutrition bars, etc.

Our club also had 49 members who participated in the National Challenge for 3 months this winter and as a club logged: 621 swim miles, 14,133 bike miles, and 4,022 run miles totaling: 18,776 miles. Great Job to those who took the time to log and send in those miles, overall we placed 18th!!

Clothing order is in! We made all the minimum orders, with the exception of women’s bike shorts. Order should arrive approximately the 2nd week in May. Thanks Jaynie for all your work on this!!

Fox Golf Outing: September 13th, 10:00 at Irishwaters in Freedom. 18 hole scramble. You don’t have to be an avid golfer, or triathlon for this one…all are welcome. More details to follow. This is our 2nd fund raiser for the FCTC.

Our Captain Race Official for Iron man WI is our own Alan. He is looking for about 12 volunteers: you need to have done 1 triathlon, come on Saturday for the meeting and then volunteer and be inspired on Sunday. (sign me up!)

UNO’S Restaurant: Tuesday, June 17th is Fox Tri Night. 10-15% spent that night goes to our club. Come and bike at Aurora first if you want! Thanks UNO”s!

Aloha Party: Saturday, March 22, 2008, Heart of the Valley YMCA. 6-8p.m. Swim ,play games, have a drink, and relax. Bring a snack to share.

Best for Last: Luis Alvarez, our guest speaker!!

· Luis is the only man in the world to have completed every single Iron man in the world! He completed 2 ironmans in 6 days, in 2 different continents.

· His ironmex team started like our FCTC: 12 guys in a living room.

· Mexico’s Ironmex is now + 3,000 traveling all over the world!

·

Luis shared some heart warming, inspirational stories with us. I truly do believe, as does all in attendance that anyone who wants to: Can do an Ironman. Thanks Luis, and thanks to Lee and Brenda Simril for inviting Luis.

April meeting will be at Title Town Brewery in Green Bay.

Respectfully Submitted,
